All scenes were modelled, textured, animated and rendered in Maya. All textures are either Ai Standard Surfaces or Lambert's, all with different weights, colours and roughness'.
Hi i'm Clank and this is Noland.
One of the most mentally demanding scenes in this project and one of the last created. Maya decided to stop allowing me to import the audio recording so I had to animate the mouth whilst listening to a clip and not knowing the timing of when each syllable was said. This caused me to restart this scene several times. The scene is set on a blank background similar to a photo shoot and was made with a curved surface from floor to ceiling.

These two shots were filler shots to replace a mouth animation. These were the final two scenes modeled and were done quickly and easily due to a problem with my PC. On the final few days of the project my PC broke. The screen starting flickering obscene amounts and crashed every 2 minutes or less. This caused me to be unable to acces some files and I had to move to another device. I reinstalled Maya on my Windows Surface Pro, to which is not designed for animation and the processing speed is painfully low. My Noland character also wouldn't move on his rig so I was therefore unable to animate him in a scene. This led to me creating the tray scene with clank who his holding some Fender beer. Fender, from Futurama is another character he was inspired by. The second scene worried me as I had a space to fill and had no clue as to how I can fill it. I came to the conclusion that "The reason we were made" could work well with a factory style scene. I created a logo and a brand named Notrevihc's. This brand is my Grandad's surname/Mum's maiden name backwards. It is also the name of a Pirate group my ancestors were part of that smuggled from the Isle Of Wight centuries ago and I include this brand as a personal Easter Egg. Trust me when I say this isn't the last you'll see of Notrevihc's. Much like Buy N Large in the Pixar Universe, my brand will be the pinnacle of my universe.
Builders.
This scene started out as a singular house that was created in a wacky way and I thought would reflect a crazy cartoon architectural design. These houses were then duplicated and put on an estate styled land plot and is supposed to resembled a building site, finished but with no roads yet. This is not my favourite scene but with my skills and time left, I honestly could not have thought of any other way to do this. I also changed the scene from the white background to a sky with a horizon.

Demolition Experts.
This is one of my favourite scenes I made. It is so short and simple yet so fun. It was the first time I tried to animate an interaction between my characters and an object. I loved the way that the cute and innocent Noland was the one to cause all the destruction and I really love the minecraft easter egg part to the scene! (For those who don't play, the TNT is the same texture as Minecrafts TNT). This is a reference to mine and my girlfriends love to the game and how she and it got us through 2020. After receiving feedback, I decided to add a smokey version of Noland where the TNT pushed soot all over his body to replace the cut to black I had in the original draft.

We've been chefs and fireman.
This was the first scene I modelled. My first ever 3D animation... A lot of the assets from this scene were reused assets from my year one Final Major Project (FMP) and were redesigned and re textured. The giant oil painting for me is my favourite part to the scene as there is an oil painting of oil in a set belonging to robots, of whom are associated with oil. Its like us having a Pepsi painting on our wall and I thought it would bring a comedic element to the scene for those who are looking closely. The fire was created using After Effects and I followed a tutorial in how to do it as I did not know how before hand and I thought creating an element in Maya would prove a great challenge and put time against me. This is something I may try for my FMP, perhaps in the form of water.

Cleaners and Binmen.
This was one of the last scenes created and was enjoyable to do. I included the same texture from the cookie jars seen in the home and kitchen scenes and this causes a nice reflection and separation between the two characters and allows for the two jobs to be shown. I also included some of my own Easter Eggs in the form of the two crates from my Madagascar Easter Egg from my first project The Red Bandit.

Actors/Musicians.
This scene was rather challenging in terms of lighting. Even with help and following YouTube tutorials I just couldn't get my spotlights and stage lights to turn on when rendering. This caused the lighting to look a little strange but I had to adjust and work with coloured directional lighting. I also added a free rigged download of Walle to add as an extra of whom I messed about animating to understand animation controls.

Cashiers.
This scene was a fun one to create. This time I put Noland in the driving seat in terms of work and made Clank the shopper in this case. There are 2 Easter Eggs in the scene in the form of the cereal boxes. The scene is very simple yet effective and displays a variety of textures which I enjoy looking at. I also re-designed the English supermarket Tescos logo. I changed the letters from Tesco to read Robot and I think its a fun little Easter Egg for keen eyed viewers to spot.

Therapists.
I love this scene. Everything about it is fun. The fact Clank is interviewing Noland. The fact robots, of whom are supposed to have no inner mental emotions now have this spiritual belief and therapy sessions. I also loved that I included the two pictures in the background. This includes a meditating robot and a fun sketch scene of a robot asking a human to click the iconic 'I am not a robot box' we are all asked to click daily.

We need a job.
This is one of my favourite scenes just because of the amount of time I set set dressing and modelling. I am is what is known as a nerd and I take pleasure in small references in films. In this scene there are a lot of them. Firstly we have the two characters moping around in their living room area, clearly bored and in need of a job. Then we have the set itself. 2 paintings from the Pixar universe. Walle, a fellow robot and 2 some concept art from Finding Dory. As well as these 2 big pictures there is a small print design of Wilson from Cast Away starring Tom Hanks. This is a reference to how Noland got his name. Chuck Noland is Tom Hanks' character in the film and at the time of creation I had just purchased the Funko Pop figure of this character. This poster combined with the figures below are an inside reference as to how Noland got his name. There are over 80 individually sculpted and textured figure boxes including 11 YouTooz and over 60 Funko Products. The Funko figures are all references to my favourite films, characters, figures I own myself or figures I want to own. YouTooz are a company that create figures of iconic memes, internet stars or icons and in this instance I chose my favourite. Dream and GeorgeNotFound are one of mine and my girlfriends favourite YouTubers as well as Mr Beast and The Sidemen, all of whom can be found somewhere on the shelves! Happy Hunting!

The final shot is in the same setting as the first and provides the overarching narrating theme of the story. Clank produces their business card and to keen eyed viewers has a wacky email address. A simple camera and a fade to the title screen to finish off the whole project.
