Cal Arts is a dream. If I could go anywhere it would be here. To me the university that tops it all and the one that holds the name of an animation university. The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) is a an art university in Santa Clarita, California. It was started in 1961 as a place of higher learning in the US created specifically for students of both the visual and performing arts. It offers Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Fine Arts, Master of Arts, and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees through its six schools: Art, Critical Studies, Dance, Film/Video, Music, and Theatre. The school was first opened in the early 1960s by Walt Disney. The students tend to create their own work entirety at very high standard. A large amount of famous animators were taught here and the teachers consisted of some of Walt Disney's "9 Old Men". Many students who attended have gone on to work for Disney Animation studios and Pixar. These include the likes of John Lasseter, Tim Burton, Pete Docter, Brad Bird, Andrew Stanton and Butch Harman. A big memory and reference for animation students makes its way into lot of animations. A113. This is a reference to the main classroom a lot of the animators studied in and its included in a lot of animations.
Unfortunately CalArts is seriously difficult to get into. Students who attend here are the best of the best and have portfolios both online and physical that absolutely astound you. CalArts is also in California but I would be willing to make the move 100%. This school is a dream and to train where the best animators in the world train would be a dream come true. It will also give me the opportunities to get into places like Disney and Pixar which is my life goal. The training I would receive would be from the best of the best and this is why I want to attend. I will be submitting an application! The application I would submit is for a scholarship is the University is over $50,000 a year and is 4 years long. Unfortunately at this stage I don't have this money and will therefore hope to receive a full or partial scholarship.

Character Animation
The following is taken from the CalArts website-
"The BFA Programme in Character Animation, is designed for students who seek an understanding of the art of character performance and storytelling in animation. The Program provides comprehensive artistic and technical training to help each student develop as a fully-fledged animation artist within both the traditional and computer graphic (CG) animation environments. The Program features a faculty of experienced professionals who work at the forefront of traditional, CG and independent animation.
The first year of the Program’s intensive four-year curriculum is devoted to courses in life drawing, colour and design, storytelling and character animation—both traditional and CG. The second year takes this work to a higher level by incorporating elements such as dialogue, sound effects and music. In the third year, students typically move to the advanced level in their coursework, which can include story classes geared toward short-form traditional animation, CG computer animation, and specialized work in painting, illustration, graphic novels and advanced visual design. In the fourth and final year, students move up to the highest level of the core classes and can customize their curriculum according to their own specific areas of interest. During the course of their studies, students develop a professional-calibre portfolio, and create one short individually-made film per year."
The years of experience and training I will receive on this course will be absolutely second to none...

Below is my favourite examples of work produced on this course. Watching all of these brought me so so much joy and happiness. I really want to bring the same emotion to others the same way these animators and writers did.
